Production Supervisors are responsible for making sure production output matches customer requirements. That means planning which production lines need to run, which shifts need to happen, and which supplies need to be ordered.
Production Supervisors also oversee the people working their production lines. They handle attendance and absenteeism issues, move staff around to keep critical lines operating, and make sure safety is a top priority at all times.
Having an engineering background can be valuable as a Production Supervisor, but good people skills are essential. Liaising with supporting departments, HR and even union representatives is an important part of a Production Supervisor's role.
