Apprentices learn on the job under a qualified artisan who teaches them the skills they need to take their own trade test. It normally takes around three years of apprenticeship to be ready to become an artisan in your own right.
You can apprentice for most careers that require a trade test, including Tool Maker, Millwright and Electrician. Apprentices wanting to become engineers will need to get their N6 level diploma after completing their apprenticeship and successful trade test.
